I think its really sad to enjoy a young mans misery. Whether you want someone else to be the starter is irrelevant to you being ecstatic that he "is gone for the season." He is a young ND man who has tried his best and made a poor decision . I hope most of us can remember that he tried his best as a freshman and sophmore and not wallow or gloat in his misery.

I also hope you never make a mistake in life and am assuming that you never have. I wish I could say that myself.

Admirable sentiments, Dave. But you probably need to accept the fact that for some football fans everywhere, even here, the scope of their vision of life is limited to what goes on between the lines on Saturday afternoons.

  • I am not a fan of calabreese. But no more Rees! Golson time baby! Whoever I think of calabreese I think of this....
Last year vs USC I clearly remember it being a huge 3rd down in the first half and he makes the tackles short of the market but stands over the guy clapping gets flagged and then they go and score on that drive. That is how I remember correct me if I am wrong . The point is that was a critical point of the game nd had momentum and he killed it giving it back to USC and making the deficit even bigger now I am not blaming the loss on him but that I think the game would of been a lot different if it wasn't for that play. He was also benched the Rest of the game

Thanks Ham and Indy...sad to see such nastiness aimed at a young man trying his best.

Irish Impact and Borghi should be ashamed of themselves. I too live and die every Saturday and screamed at a game or at the TV at TR many times. However, I respect most everyone that ever earned the right to represent this great University and thank them for every thing they tried to do.

Get over yourselves and leave the kid alone.Imagine this scenario: I would laugh if someone else takes over does great and gets injured late in the season (wouldn't laugh at the injury but bear with me) and TR has to come in and win a championship for us....its happened before. Would you congratulate him or just say he was lucky? He always tried his best and would do so again. I also agree that they don't love ND just the highs they get on a Saturday afternoon. ND graduates the best of the best and as the ad says very few ever play football again but are recognized as exceptional human beings

  • Bk. got it right. The way he handled this situation reinforces my belief that he is the right guy to restore the football program.Who ever is the starter in the Navy game will hopefully lead the Irish to many victories in 2012.Go Irish.

  • I think it's sad that so many onthis board are celebrating. I want Golson to start also, but won't root for it to happen this way. Let him beat Tommy out on the field. These are young kids that chose Notre Dame and we should show more class.

  • Where does Kiel fit into the discussion? Is he being red-shirted for sure? I agree TR was never the caliber of QB necessary to win BCS games, but here we are again with top-tier recruiting classes coming and going without a legitimate QB at the helm and worse, STILL no obvious front runner. We compete for championships over the last two years with just a solid starting QB who doesn't turn it over... I love the recruiting succes, but w/o a QB, it doesn't mean much besides mediocrity. Am I the only one seeing this??

I suppose you are right in stating where they are coming from so ill pray for their pathetic souls. If their idea of "ok" is slamming a 19 year old kid to make themselves feel better then they need all the help they can get!

    sportsfansb

  • At least one game each.
They are lucky it wasn't worse.
Carlos taking a week off won't hurt too bad.
Rees just left the door open to loose his starting position. If Golson or Hendrix start and gain some momentum, no sense changing the next week, and on it goes.
Rees's punishment may be worse than just one game.
That has to be tough for any young man.
