Ronald Darby...

  • According to a tweet from Mike Farrell, Ron Darby is down to Clemson, Auburn, and Florida State. Nothing has been confirmed to my understanding, but this would be disappointing knowing that the staff was trying to schedule a visit with him. Staff, has this been confirmed? If so, I REALLY hope we land Brian Poole. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one!

Hearing #NotreDame is out of picture for Ronald Darby. Not a huge surprise. #FloridaState #Auburn #Clemson

  • Hopefully this isn't true and the staff can get at least 1 more shot with him, but I just thought I'd share this with you guys since it's on twitter...Go Irish!

  • we can only hope for standifer and poole, one of them is a must..

  • I just don't understand these kids. Look, I kind of understand a kid committing early, then later opening his options (or decommitting). But what happened that made him totally drop us off the list after being a commit for so long? And all of this was in a matter of a few weeks.

  • from what i have been reading Standifer is almost a sure thing.. Poole is not good and Darby is not good... both of them are really not that interested in ND cry

  • As far as Darby is concerned, well he bought what FSU was selling, it will either work out or it won't. Honestly if track is that important to him, then that is probably the best for him.

What will be interesting to see, is what happens over the next year at FSU. Will the spiel that he received from the FSU coaches be as sweet as it sounds now, or will that have faded. We've had two transfers where opposing coaches blew smoke up a recruits butt,(Prestwood & Carlisle) to get them. When that smoke clears, either Darby will be happy at FSU or he won't...

  • A CB with elite speed is exactly what ND needed, really disappointed the staff couldn't lock this kid down. Big loss for the Irish.

Notre Dame isn't out for it as much as you think on Poole.

Pooles twitter account laughs at what you think. Coaches seemed to live at Pooles house(not just this week), i dont recall ever hearing about them visiting Darby.

Darby wanted love and apparently didnt get it, he also has no ND rcts around to keep the ND vibe.

  • Personally, I don't think he'll make it in football there. FSU routinely lands premier hs players that flop. Not so much because they can't hack it, but more a case of how much talent is always on that roster. Sure they haven't won on an elite level as of late but there should be no doubt they have landed the players to be good.

Their "lesser" recruits are kids that always possess great upside, which is the perk of the state of Florida's depth in football talent.

Darby will be in for a battle and maybe that'll push him but as it stands now, he could've walked in here and played, where as at FSU he'll sit early and who knows how he'll handle it. The speed is elite, the db skills aren't. Personally, he is probably better off at either of the other two.

In my opinion, I dont know the kid from Adam but he just seems to think he is better then he is. I could be way off-base because he certainly seems like a nice kid. Doesn'tmean he isn't beyond cocky and feel like he deserves the attention that he is seeking on NSD.

Bitter or not, I just don't like how this kids recruiting went down and I hope he is done with ND.

  • We all know it's frustrating to lose Darby, especially at 2 need positions, CB and punt return. But one thing we should try to keep in mind. We should try and remember that good recruiting, like good universities(ND), are steady over time.

What I mean is that I am sure that with all recruits that wish to decommit or commit elsewhere, they are eventually wished the best of luck without any bad taste in their mouth. If t wasnt meant to be, so be it. And now that we see that Carlisle and Prestwood both surprised us by coming to us, maybe there will be others. Guys wo you least expect when you least expect. Probably not either or these 2 guys but who knows, maybe someone even better.

  • It's disappointing how everything worked out with Darby.. He was committed for so long and then we lose him right at the end.. It's too bad. Hopefully we get Poole in the next five days and he can start opposite Tee Shepard and then Darby can run track and never play football. biggrin

That's true Coach, maybe others will come back to us.. We will see. That's why it's important to make sure he's just given a pat on the butt and a 'Good luck son' rather than some type of tongue lashing. You never know when he'll be looking for greener pastures.

locoDon't think he'll make it in football at FSU?? That is blasphemy, kid has all the talent in the world he'll be fine. Would he have made it at ND? Are you saying you wouldn't want him at ND?

  • The kid isn't a sure thing. Not many kids are. So act as arrogant and demeaning towards my opinion as you'd like. Fact is, if you actually have seen him play (outside of his youtube highlight tape you fondled yourself to) you'd see he has 0 mechanics. His talent lies within his speed, and his ability to use that speed. At a high school level, it is easy. In college? Different story. Nfl? Less.

He has a slim chance at a pro career, like most. His speed gives him a better shot then most. However, he has a better shot of making it at ND where his best attribute truly stands out. Where as, at fsu, he is amongst brilliant athletes that the south produces and like so many elite recruits they get, he can easily get lost in the shuffle.

At ND, of course i'd like him because he has what we lack. Speed. Everyone always mentions "rocket" when discussing this kid because we all know he has that elite tool ND doesnt. Fsu in particular doesnt lack that speed, especially in their secondary.

So in four years we'll know. You want to send mocking smiley faces before that only shows your arrogance and lack of character. Clown.
