Should Lynch be granted waiver by NCAA?

Skip Holtz is reporting that they will petition the NCAA to allow Lynch to play this fall at USF. He cited Amir Carlisle being granted the waiver a precedent for why he thinks they will grant the request. In your opinions should Lynch be granted the waiver because Carlisle was, even though Lynch claimed homesickness as his reason for departure. In my opinion i say let the kid play. I harbor no hatred or ill will towards a 19 year old who made a bad decision. but a lot of fans are in an uproar about him possibly not having to sit out for the season. Are we just better fans on this site or am I not mean enough?

In my opinion its not even sour grapes, you just can't let kids transfer at the drop of the hat because of homesickness. At least Carlisle's father moved to Indiana for work and he wanted to stay close to his family. Lynch knew he would be away, chose ND, if he wants to transfer then he should have to sit. By allowing him to play you are saying kids can transfer for whatever reason. Unless he has a better argument than being homesick, he should not be granted the waiver.

The NCAA denies Tim Abromitis his 6th year of eligibility after he was a 3 time academic all American and missed practically his entire senior year with an injury, and yet I'm sure the NCAA will aprove Lynch to play. There is no way he should be allowed to play. Nothing against the kid but it's a slippery slope and if the NCAA allows this stuff to happen players will be holding teams hostage and leaving at will for all sorts of things.

Since Carlisle's transfer was granted I would say Yes that Lynch should be granted a waiver especially with Momma Lynch moving back to Florida. With that said I am with my boy Pat on this one that unless there is a true hardship(i.e. Arnett's sick father, Bullard's mom dying ,etc.) none of these waivers should be granted but if they do that then they should also penalize the coaches that are allowed to jump from job to job.

No! If you have a legit reason I have no problem with a kid getting a waiver.I agree that Carlisle's waiver seems odd,but it is not a precedent for more bad decisions.

no way should lynch get a waiver.
he should sit his butt a year for sure.
i hope he is happy in life, but i hope he ends up sucking big time in football.

Who cares at this point if he plays next year for USF or not? Hes not at ND anymore so it wont bother me one bit.

If you let him play then you teach him (and a lot of kids like him) to go ahead and be selfish and spoiled--the rules, which are in place to curb the very behavior you have just exhibited, don't apply to you anyway.

Not that any of us have a say in this issue in the long run, but just because something doesn't affect you directly doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't care about it. Especially if it could affect us and the entire sport in the long run.
