4.4 speed added to the defensive backfield is just what we needed. Can't go wrong here, and it will be nice to see how we get the ball in his hands. Go IRISH on our way to top 5 recruiting.

I think they said he was a 4.0 rated on a scale 4-5. They said earlier he runs a 4.4 forty yard which is awesome as well.

Just noticed Notre Dame just jumped to #3 on 247 sports class rankings with the addition of Shumate. This class is looking better and better. Look for the next commit to be Westerkamp. GO IRISH

In all my excitement about Shumate I completely forgot Westerkamp could be flipping to the irish soon. Awesome. Go Irish!

I love his acknowledgment of the educational opportunities Notre Dame affords should football not be part of his future. Great to see Shumate has a good head on his shoulders and is picking ND for all the right reasons.

They mentioned on the broadcast that the coaches have had to ask him to not hit so hard during practice. Says he couldn't stop because that's how they practice at Don Bosco! (I'm paraphrasing of course!)

Wonderful pick-up!! Things are beginning to happen in many
good ways, even subtle ways---we have been on the outside
looking in at Don Bosco for quite some time
(remember Brian Toal of BC fame) and perhaps have started
to eat away at the stranglehold USC and other West Coast
schools had at Bishop Gorman (Stanley).

I really do love this pick-up for the class. He's a great kid and a heck of a football player, tough as nails and hits like a mack truck....
