Some new quotes from Greenberry...

  • "I was going to Notre Dame for the wrong reasons, not thinking about what's best for me. I just kinda was following the next person. You guys know who I'm talking about."
That would be Greenberry's cousin, five-star defensive back Tee Shepard who is already enrolled at Notre Dame.

Said Greenberry, "I spoke with him. He's good. Spoke with the coaches, everybody's good.

"As you guys know, I was headed towards Arizona Atate and a particular coach, Jamie Christian," he said. "After their whole staff got separated he's now at Houston so I put my faith into him.

Can anyone help me make sense of this. I am not hear to bash on him but he says he "didn't want to follow the next person" but isn't he following a coach that got fired from ASU to Houston? The real question is are your following Jamie Christian or are you following $$$$$$? Just a thought

  • I got the feeling he really didn't want to work hard. He'll be given the WR spot at Houston while at ND he might red-shirted. it's taking the easy way out plain and simple. If he was going because of Tee he wouldn't of been pumping ND all the way until today. today's youth has their priorities all wrong.

To me, this says one thing: Greenberry never wanted to come to ND; his cousin did. Greenberry
"tagged" along. I do remember now, with hindsight, that much of the discussion centered on
getting Tee to enroll early since "that will clinch it with Greenberry." In retrospect, one wonders whether
if Tee was taken out of the equation, Greenberry would have ever committed to ND in the
first place. Many times, these things work out, but its too bad that Greenberry---let's face it,
a kid with immense talent---was not interested in the things that ND has to offer.

last sentence was perfect. Todays youth wants the easiest route possible all the time and everytime. Sad to say but every kid thinks hes going pro and puts the education last on their list of priorites behind money and fame.

  • Sad it would take him all this time before he determines he was doing it for the wrong reason. Hope his decision works out, glad he won't be at ND if his heart was not in it. He was not happy he probably would not worked as hard, and we need hard workers.

  • I have no idea what his priorities may be, but he seems to be one confused kid. Not sure what advice he received at home, but following an Asst Coach to make the decision for your future education?? He should have sat on it for a week and then made his final decision (Houston certainly would take him later and ND has spots).

That's a load of donkey dook. Our generation may not be the the greatest, but its not just "todays generation" that doesn't work hard. Wasn't it all of the 80's kids that ruined the SouthWest conference along with the boosters and what not.
Look at the guys who signed today. At ND, Stanford, Northwestern, ect... don't tell me they don't work hard. I could go on.
Not trying to bash anyone or anything, but that's just not even fair to say.

  • Spent 5 minutes being pissed off about this.

We have a great "needs filled" type of class! Could have been better. Deontay will regret this decision. For his sake, I hope he has a world-class work ethic because he's giving up a world-class education and one heck of an opportunity.

Good Luck DG. WE'RE MOVING AHEAD... GO IRISH!!!

  • I lived in Houston for 5 years. My friends and I from the North always joked that it should be turned into a penal colony. I now know how hell must feel! The heat/humidity index there is off the chart -- you can't go anywhere in the summer (which starts in April) without sweating your ass off. Greenberry visited in January, which is one of the few tolerable months. He is going to regret this decision the rest of his life, or until he transfers.

  • Who cares? He's not Irish today so I don't care to see his name anymore.

He didn't want to come to ND, he didnt' want to have to do the work required to be at ND. He only committed to be with Tee.

This coach makes him feel comfortable and the fact that he is not going to have to do a whole lot of work outside of football makes him feel comfortable.

We got the right kid in of these two... Tee understands how much work he is going to have to do at ND, but he also sees the benefits of all that work.

  • He's obviously not that good if he is going to Houston. It seems like he does not want any pressure to succeed.
