Spring game Are you optimistic or pessimistic ?

After watching the game, and considering that there was both good and bad, are you optimistic or worried about the team for next season ?

Optimistic...we have some very talented skill players that will be fun to watch especially if Golson starts. I want wins but I like watching an offense in its groove. Tommy doesn't do that for me, but it's pretty exciting when EG is in, even with the fumbled snaps.

Is it just me I feel we have looked sharper in the past? Granted Golson looked fine and Atkinson and Wood looked Good. Maybe I'm just expecting too much at this time of Year.

It confirmed for me the same old movie---BK has and is slowly assembling
an exceptionally talented football team, on both sides of the line of
scrimmage, in the offensive backfield, in a creative way to utilize talent
in the slots, in a creative way to use tight ends, in a solid front seven
(considering Jackson did not play, I thought the corners played o.k.).
Obvious problem to all---- the QB situation
And,
why, oh why, can not our DBs be taught to look for the ball more
than they do?

Once actually. There was one botched shotgun snap by Golic, one snap that hit Theo as he was in motion in front of Golson, and then one actually fumbled snap when Golson was under center.

What a beautiful day it was in South Bend to watch some Irish Football....You have to be optimistic about the clear emergence of GA3 at the RB position. He was dominating. The QB play was below average for the most part other than Everett Golson. But we did see COUNTLESS stupid penalties on both sides of the ball, but especially defensively. Overall it was a solid exhibition, and Golson clearly needs to be the #1 qb at this and get the reps with the 1st teamers.

i surpisingly was finding myself optimistic. and that is a lot considering i feel our team will be a 500 team this next year.
i feel if golson plays and he limits his turnovers then we will do ok.
perhaps 8-4 at best.
as much as i love the way T.rees handles himself when he know the world of ND is against him, i agree he is not the answer.
but a fine man regardless

Excellent summary on your part. I was going to do a column similar for the print edition, and we're pretty much on the same page in each area. I share the exact share sentiment about receiver. There is a lot of talk about Goodman being this year's Jonas Gray, the senior who breaks through after making only sparse appearances, but I'm a bit of a Doubting Thomas on that one for now.
I also think Vegas will have the over/under line for the regular season at 7 or 7.5.
