Can't rest on the fact that has the position. Has to get ready for first opponent - most important thing in life right now.

On landing role:
BK knows Crist is a fighter. And he'll do everything in his power to make sure the job is done. He is going to come to work everyday no matter what the situation is.
On managing that role:
Take it one week at a time and lead the team. Ready to take on the challenge and has been here before.
It comes down to experience. Knows how BK likes to coach now that in year two. There's a ton more room for growth and they'll continue to get to know each other better, but have made huge strides.
On what drives Crist:
Love being challenged in any way. It's been something that burns a fire underneath him for as long as he's been competed. Will work that much harder when someone says he can't do it. Just wants the team to be successful and will do whatever he can to get it.
Much more familiarity in the day-to-day routine where you can play more comfortable and play fast. Playing confident shows a great deal of preparation and feels the team will succeed in that area "better than anybody in the country."
On finding out about starting role:
Remained confident, but wasn't the one making decision. Needed to hear it from BK's lips to remove any bit of uncertainty. Feels he did a good job of showing why he earned the role, and now relieved with how it worked out.
On conversation with Rees:
Talked about relationship and where it needs to be. Will remain friends through all of this ... to make the team better both have to continue working and do what's best for the team.
More on Rees...
"Tommy is a great guy and we'll have success at Notre Dame while he's here."
On being on the sideline:
One of the more difficult times he's ever had to deal with. Thankful that he had teammates and coaches that stuck with him despite not knowing where he would be after that. He's incredibly thankful.
Comes back to having mindset of wanting to compete. Still love football and has the same passion that he did when he first put on the pads at age 6.
On maintaining the role:
It comes down to having the mental toughness to know how you're going to react when something goes wrong. Have to be able to control emotions and be a leader on the team. Not calling guys out ... but holding guys accountable and managing the offense. Expects teammates to do the same of him.
You fumble the ball ... sure, get upset, but prove that you're going to work your hardest to bounce back and not let it happen again.
Crist feels more confident playing the position and overall confidence in general.
Realize he's eligible, but doesn't want to think about those things yet. Focused on South Florida and will worry about that when it gets there.
On the waiting time to become a starting QB upon first arrival at ND:
Played well in high school and was the top guy, but humbling coming out of high school and not knowing where you stand. Drives you to work hard and having people in his ear pushing him gave him to force he needed to get there.
Came down to loving the game ... wanted to play coming in and hurt a little bit, but made him stronger in the long run. Drove him to want to overcome that feat.
Playing catch up to the mental side was huge for him that year.
On changes now as starting QB:
Crist presser complete...
Got his head on straight, focused and ready. Feels like his drive is huge right now.

I hope he has a huge year. He deseves to after how hard he has worked.
Two time Poster of The Week, 2011 and 2013.
I hope he has a huge year as well, because with our defense, that should result in a BCS bowl type season for the Irish.
