Tarean Folston - Film

  • Not big, and more of a one cut runner, but he is FAST and a weapon out of the backfield as a WR!

  • He reminds me of Davonte Neal...Wonder how HE! fits in next year..When he signed a lot of us expected great things as a freshman. Some even called for him to play CB because we were so weak back there. I'm sure Neal is better now than when he finished high school and I am sure Folston will spend time in the freshman incubator before he is ready to contribute. I still hope we get him. He will find his way to the field soon enough! I am excited about next year's Davonte Neal.

  • This is the first time I've watched his film and all I can say is...wow. He has a combination of great burst and top end speed. Once he hits his top speed, not many people will catch him and he hits top speed quicker than most backs.

Could you imagine him and Bryant out of the backfield with Neal in the slot. Hell, put Folston at the other slot position and make the D stack the box against Bryant.

  • I have always loved Folston from the start and he is really fast back with top end speed. He would be a great compliment to Mahone or Bryant in the running game and on screen passes/quick slants in the slot, etc. I'll be chugging tequila out of an ND hat if he picks the Irish on Jan. 4th! Oh and it will be that much betterflex when I hit up the Army All American game the next day in San Antonio.

  • Earlier in the season Folston's Cocoa team played against Bryant's AH team on ESPN. Folston really showed out in that game running the ball and receiving. Would suggest watching that game again to get a glimpse of what our potential backfield might look like in the very near future..

Bryant seems to be more highly regarded by recruiting folks, but I like Folston's tape better. Bryant looks like a grinder that makes many cuts in order to gain yardage because he doesn't have top flight speed. Folston looks like speed gets him through holes which requires him to cut less. They both look great and would be the perfect compliments in the same backfield. And if they are smart, a RB today should want to play enough to showcase their talents enough to get drafted high, but share snaps so they save their legs/bodies from the pounding for the NFL. Why carry 25 times a game and take that pounding when you can share the rock and still go high in the draft?

Wow, I was thinking same thing. I am no recruiting expert, but I watch too much football (my wife says), so I am an expert at watching football.

I like his one cut. That is especially effective with zone blocking.

It was funny. At one point I was wondering if he ever took a hand-off, because it was all pitches and passes to him.
He looked good receiving, too, which is like a Theo Riddick type of hybrid that creates mis-matches with the linebackers.

    I like this young man.
