Rockne's Roundtable

He reminds me of Davonte Neal...Wonder how HE! fits in next year..When he signed a lot of us expected great things as a freshman. Some even called for him to play CB because we were so weak back there. I'm sure Neal is better now than when he finished high school and I am sure Folston will spend time in the freshman incubator before he is ready to contribute. I still hope we get him. He will find his way to the field soon enough! I am excited about next year's Davonte Neal.

I have always loved Folston from the start and he is really fast back with top end speed. He would be a great compliment to Mahone or Bryant in the running game and on screen passes/quick slants in the slot, etc. I'll be chugging tequila out of an ND hat if he picks the Irish on Jan. 4th! Oh and it will be that much better when I hit up the Army All American game the next day in San Antonio.

Bryant seems to be more highly regarded by recruiting folks, but I like Folston's tape better. Bryant looks like a grinder that makes many cuts in order to gain yardage because he doesn't have top flight speed. Folston looks like speed gets him through holes which requires him to cut less. They both look great and would be the perfect compliments in the same backfield. And if they are smart, a RB today should want to play enough to showcase their talents enough to get drafted high, but share snaps so they save their legs/bodies from the pounding for the NFL. Why carry 25 times a game and take that pounding when you can share the rock and still go high in the draft?
