Manti I deserved it, but Johnny was the darling of the press, especially ESPN. That, and the fact he's a defensive player, killed him.

Tis a shame that Manti only lost by less than 300 votes. And what about the Midwest not voting heavily for Manti?
Did you hear Chris Fowler's comment about the trophy and how it is a sculpture of a player running with the ball? If that's the case, then call it the Offensive Player of the Year Award.
One more comment about the show: imo, someone should've made the Dude in the gold suit (Rozier) take his hat off. He looked stupid.....(but I'm not mad, or disappointed, or anything). DARN IT!

If Manzeil does not beat Bama, he does not win it. Total BS, should have been Manti's all the way! How do you take home 2 player of the year awards and not win the heisman? Change the name of the heisman to offense player of the year. GO IRISH!

Well, all three were probably deserving, but Manti was the most deserving and it shows the award is a sham. A player who played ten good games and two bad but has one highly visible dramatic game is more valued than, say a qb with better stats who stood out for two seasons and has played about 25 good games or a player who has played at the highest level for four seasons.
Manti does, however join what may be one of the most exclusive and talented groups of athletes ever, that is ND guys who have finished second: Angelo Bertelli, Joe Theismann and Raghib Ismael. What a foursome!

OB - If Manziel didn't beat Alabama, Klein would have won the Heisman. It's purely an offensive - no, a QB or RB - award. Somehow I don't think Manti will lose any sleep over this though. He already has the Maxwell, Walter Camp, Butkus, Bednarik, Nagurski, Lombardi Awards, and I'll go ahead and chalk up the Lott IMPACT for him too. And the ultimate prize, the national championship, is the only one that really matters.

Manti said this is going to provide him with motivation since the majority of voters didn't think he deserved it - so as he said "I'll have to get better" ohhh this NC game is going to be great! GO IRISH!!

Manti is right he and his teammates need to put their total focus on Alabama and winning the national championship. A win on January 7th will go a long way in removing the disappointment of not winning the Heisman.

The first thing that crossed my mind when they announced the winner was the fact that there will be no Heisman jinx on Manti and ND! Instead of Alabama using that as extra motivation, now ND can concentrate on pulling together and win the NC!

“I’m not responsible for that," Te'o said. "I have no say in that. I did the best I could do and I’m happy with that … I wish I could have came first, obviously, but It gives me motivation and it gives me fire to come back and get better. Obviously what I did wasn’t good enough, so I have to be better. That’s exactly what’s going to happen.”
Not that he needed anymore motivation.

Just like the media picks favorites during elections the media clearly picked their favorite in Manziel promoting him any chance they could. Kelly said it the best "If Teo doenst win they should make it strictly an offensive award".

Everett has 10 wins this year(exclude Michigan and BYU)
The way I see it is when ND beats bama, Everett should get a share of the heisman trophy right?

Manti and his family became friends with Johnny Manziel and his family. Thank God these players aren't the petty crybabies some of their fans are.
Manti won every single significant award but the Heisman, and we all should have seen it coming that Manziel was going to win the Heisman. It was being projected as such all week, the award goes to a quarterback and running back virtually every year and Manti even without it is the most decorated college football player EVER.
Show an ounce of dignity and class instead of tearing everyone else down because our guy finally came in second for an award for the first time all week. Celebrate Manti Te'o for everything else that he is on and off the field.
I have never been so happy to see a Heisman vote over with. Brought out the best in Manti and the worst in a lot of us.

Who the hell are you to say Manziel don't have character flaws? Getting arrested after producing 2 fake I'd's is not a character flaw? F*ck Manziel and the Heisman.
