Iowa State was a No. 8 seed last year and lost in the third round to eventual champion Kentucky. The Cyclones were 2-6 this season against teams ranked among the top 25. They lost two overtime games vs. Kansas and to Texas in two overtimes.

ESPN is favoring Iowa State in the mini upset by the lower seed. Seth Greenberg, J Williams and Bilas all leaning to the Cyclones because of they way they spread out teams. 44 percent of their attempts are beyond the three-point line. I think that helps ND because Brey usually has his teams well prepped for those type of teams with his theory of willing to give up twos but not allowing teams to crush you with threes. It can be feast or famine for three-point shooting teams.

I asked the same question. Clearly ND is paying for sins of past performances. I think the committee is sick of us laying eggs.
As for Marquette getting a 3, I attribute that to Pope Francis being a Jesuit.
No other explanation.

Marquette and 3 but especially Oregon at 12 — winner of Pac 12 tourney and twice beating UCLA (6 seed) — were mind-numbing. I know the Pac 12 is considered strong, but come on.

Good question. When my jaw is raised from the floor, I'll spend some more time looking at the seeding. Just finished up press conference with Brey and the Irish starting five for a story later tonight.

I just listened to the head of the committee explain. He said they were stuck in a bad place with Oregon and Cal. Said Oregon should have been much higher but bracket logistics made if impossible to seed them correctly.

Jack Cooley just said his girlfriend and her family, which is from Iowa, are all big Iowa State fans. He said if he hears any of them cheering for the Cyclones he'll take away their third-round tickets.

It will be a tough matchup for us but hopefully we defend the 3 point shot well and take that away from Iowa State. Lets win this first game and see what happens.

As an IU/ND fan living only 50 mins from Dayton I wish I could go watch both play there. Probably can't get a ticket though. Especially with tOSU playing there as well. When will tip times be announced?

Yes it's a tough matchup but I like it - take our chances with the feast/famine approach. Let's control the boards, keep TOs low and stay aggresssive - I like our chances with this one. GO IRISH!

So true - even though ND lost to the Cards I like their determined effort and feel they've got their collective heads ready for the tourney - so I'm feelin' that regardless of who we're playing ND will come out strong - I'm hopin':) GO IRISH!

Tip times were announced last night. The Irish will play in the last game of the day at the Dayton site, following the Ohio State game. Tip is expected to be right around 10pm ET...

Whoever set up our playing times for the BE Tournament and the Dance are really starting to annoy me with their timing of the games....
