  • please read the title of the thread ....against the irish.. it's now nd -14 , was nd -17 two days ago, again , could be close game because their QB can run and pass, Kelly would love to have that kid.... and he's smart and goes to class.

  • Not sure why it's moving, specifically, but I think it's a tough game to take ND to cover, even though I think they're clearly superior. The problem is establishing a 2+ TD edge against a ball control offense. ND has only stopped Army in recent years, so they still have something to prove. In these games, you can have fewer scoring opportunities than usual, so that works against a 2 TD cover. Also, ND doesn't have the best red zone percentage, though a big part of that has been turnovers. Ruffer has become a question mark. And then there are the turnovers. So, if they expect ND to have the ball less than usual, then it becomes a percentage play on how many times they will need to score in order to cover. If you think Air Force will put 14 points on the board, then you have to figure ND has to be extremely efficient with their offense to score 28 or more. I think it makes sense that the line would come down. I expected it to be around 10 in the first place.

Just saying ... this game should be over by halftime,, just put the line movement in there to say, this might be closer than you think....what diaco stuffs on the box gives our secondary a chance to be beat repeadedfly by their receivers and their QB. . He can pass.... Enjoy the game. And don't bitch when ND barely sqeaks this one out.

  • The biggest key to stopping their running attack is the play of Nix. If he demands a double team and / or can get penetration, that will make their option game very difficult to execute.

    Nix is key IMO.

    When and if ND wins on Saturday I will be sighing a huge sigh of relief...hopefully nobody is seriously injured due to some cheap cut block.

  • I would love for this game to be over at halftime, but I don't see that with less possessions than normal. No turnovers and solid D would be great. Go Irish!

  • The lines are set to have equal betting on both teams, having the line move means that too many people were taking Air force and the points. Vegas needed to have people start taking ND giving points, and dropping the line is how they do it.

    The problem with this game is that it is a limited possession game, having ND favored by 3 scores when they may only get 10-12 possessions seems a little high, to alot of people obviously. Its not a disrespect thing, its a money decision.

  • The public likes Air Force to cover which is why the line is dropping. Doesn't pass the smell test and I would stay away from betting on this game.

    I think it will be a close game as well. But I'll bet you everything I own that the spread won't be down to 9 points, unless a number of ND players are mysteriously out.

    I will be shocked if ND doesn't win this game by a minimum of 14 points. AF has 5 starters out on defense. We should be able to run on them all day. I would venture to say that we could literally run the ball 85% of the time on AF and win by 14 points. Stranger things have happened and I know our recent history with the acadamies, so I am not commenting with rose-colored lenses, but our defense isn't even close to the defenses we've put on the field over the last decade.

    BTW, Phil Steele is predicting ND by at least 21 points and he's one of the best prognosticators in the business!
