Top Uncommitted Prospects for Notre Dame in 2013

Yeah, i'm not sure what the staff is planning on doing because Cochran was told that and John Montelus has also been. I am not sure if they don't want Johnson because they just view him as a tackle and feel he doesn't have the versatility to slide inside like the other two, but I would think you can work something out to add the #39 player in the country to your team.. I'm not sure. Hopefully we hear more about it soon.

He may not be the #39 ranked player in the country on their board. They may have missed an opportunity with him though. But I think you are right that it's likely about versatility for the 5th OL prospect they would take.

  • We haven't offered many LB's so I have another name to consider: Michael Deeb. 6'2"/235 lb. MLB out of American Heritage HS in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is your traditional downhill and crush the runner, puller, or whoever gets in the way MLB. Currently rated an 84 and 3-star prospect, but is a better athlete than you'd expect given his size and nature. He may be tough to get out of the South, but worth checking in on.

Yeah, I hear ya on the limited offers especially at pure ILB but I think they have some guys that are considered OLB that may play inside. I think the ND staff feels really good with the guys they have offered at LB like:

    Jaylon Smith
    Chans Cox
    Jordan Mastrogiovanni
    Doug Randolph

I will wait and see how things progress with Anzalone. Hopefully he decides to visit for the Blue and Gold Game.

  • Someone we need to recruit but I've heard nothing about so far is Christian Lacouture, DL out of Texas.

He has some great film, is a perfect fit for the 3-4, and isn't a lock to stay in Texas or the south, although he appears to be favoring LSU at the moment. He is visiting Michigan this weekend for their spring game.

Dorian Johnson is overrated while Montelus is vastly underrated on 247... The other services and the staff obviously prefer Montelus.

Johnson was vastly underrated before the recent jump. He might be a tad high now, but the kid is one of the top 5 OL in the country. Montelus is also underrated and I believe his offer list proves that. He is also very young for his class, so there is a lot of room for growth.

Yea, very talented kid. Unfortunately he's deciding shortly after his UM visit. Unless he's blown away, which is possible, he's headed to LSU.

This kid is good! I'd be glad if he commits at the B&G game.

  • Everyone look at the Ryan Green article on FSU site. Those guys are clowns and still aren't over the fact we got Lynch. Really paying close attention to his visit this weekend. A little worried he might jump on board, if he doesn't I'll fill a lot better about our current standing. He was at UF last weekend and FSU this weekend.

Agree to disagree. Like the staff, I don't think he's in that elite class.

If he commits to the FSU criminals I'd be shocked. I think he'll enjoy the visit and weigh all his options with his parents when he gets back home.

As would I, but he's proven to be impressionable.

Oh cripes.. I was really hopeful we could steal him under the radar. I'm worried about what U$C is putting together; Max Browne is a stud, but you add in a Michael Hutchings and a potential secondary including Sua Cravens, Priest Willis, and Chris Hawkins and BK's job gets a lot harder.

Good ILB offer today, but we can't bank of those five offers you listed. I'd like to add another five LB offers at least, true LB's on top of the hybrid offers like Jordan Sherit. When's Kimbrough getting his offer?!

Those weren't all of the LB offers just the 4-5 that ND is in a really good position with.

Tim Kimbrough will not be getting a ND offer unfortunately.

I know.. That's why I said we can't rely on those 4-5 offers.. We aren't in a good position with many of the others and need to throw out more LB offers.

Kimbrough not getting an offer is a shame..

  • Removed:

    #78 -- Kylie Fitts -- DE/OLB -- 6'4"/250 -- Redlands, CA -- COMMITTED TO USC

-Fitts is a very impressive kid. He seems to be a perfect fit for our 3-4 defense and has the speed and strength to contribute immediately. I believe he will come into the fall of 2013 at 265 lbs. or so and could fit in as Lynch did for us in 2011. The biggest concern I have currently is that Tosh Lupoi is working him hard already for Washington and we know how effective that guy is..

  • Notes:

I had no idea that Doug Randolph has been sliding. Currently, Virginia prospect Matt Rolin has a 94-grade as the #134 player in the country and #10 OLB and Doug Randolph has a 91-grade as the #234 player in the country and the #16 OLB.

    Players to Consider:

    #20 – Kendall Fuller – CB – 6’/175 – Olney, MD – Offered

    #69 – Jalen Ramsey – CB – 6’/185 – Brentwood, TN – No Offer

    #142 – Frank Herron – DE/OLB – 6’5”/245 – Memphis, TN -- Offered

    #149 – Johnathan Alston – ATH – 6’3”/200 – Bunn, NC – Offered

    #160 – David Williams – RB -- 6’1”/190 -- Philadelphia, PA – Offered

    NR/ ##19 DT – Maurice Hurst Jr. – DT – 6’2”/280 – Westwood, MA – No Offer

    NR/#23 ATH – Torii Hunter Jr. – ATH – 6’2”/170 – Prosper, TX -- Offered

    NR/#37 OLB – Danny Mattingly – OLB – 6’4”/215 – Spokane, WA – No Offer

    NR/#41 SDE -- Ebenezer Ogundecko – DE/OLB – 6’4”/240 – Brooklyn, NY – No Offer

-This is a kid I like a lot and someone I believe could fit that rush OLB position for us. He shows good pursuit, good speed for his size, and a good motor. He has ideal size to fit into our 3-4 system and as a NY kid, would give us a great fit opposite our other Brooklyn LB (Ishaq.) -- See Video
