I would really appreciate it if y'all would add more to this. I'd be happy to edit the initial post to include any players or insight y'all have. Go Irish!

I'll start contributing more. We need to get this thread rolling.

  • OL Patrick Kugler recently visited UM and had an outstanding visit. He could commit this weekend to either UM or MSU. If he decides not to commit he will be visiting UF/FSU this weekend. I think he commits. Kid grew up in Michigan where his dad coached for the Lions. The only positive out of this is if Kugler decides on UM they might be done along the OL. Which would help with Pocic and McGovern.

  • LB Jordan Mastrogiovanni out of Jesuit HS in Texas has named A&M the favorite after a recent visit. His teammate JJ Gustafason recently committed. He did say that he would be taking a few more visits with ND being one of them. A&M folks seem to think it comes down to A&M and us. Former Jesuit player Tony Hurd Jr. was a one time commit that went elsewhere after Weis was fired. WR James Onwuala out of MN recently visited Stanford and loved his visit. He's setting up a visit a visit to UM soon. Looks like Stanford, UM, Iowa, and ND are the teams to watch here. A decision might be forthcoming in a few weeks.

If that's the case, go on and commit to them. While it's highly unlikely we are in the running for Tunsil, but he is considering UM and I would much rather Kugler end up with scUM than him.

  • How many commits will we get in March between the two Junior Days and Mike Heuerman's visit?

There will be 23 visitors with 4 on March 3rd, 18 on March 24th, and Heuerman on March 31st.

Realistically, 3-4 would be great. Honestly I just hope to make last impressions on the big-time players whether they commit or not (Bivin, Isaac, Jaylon Smith, Breneman, Foster, Green, and as always, Steve Elmer.)

I'd be surprised if we land two kids. Does anyone know the last time we signed 3-4 kids at a JR Day?

  • Borghi, I would be fine with just a desk next to his. Haha.

4* or better OL? There are still plenty left to pick from.

    Elmer-Committed
    Pocic-Offered
    Bivin-Offered
    Cochran-Offered
    McGlinchey-Offered
    McGovern-Offered
Latham-No Offer -- Long Shot, but an Indiana Kid
    Lisle-No Offer

Still think we are in it with Bosch despite the fact he is committed to scUM.

I think Latham will be a DL in college and Lisle gets his offer next weekend on his visit.

Does anyone know anything about deon hollins and if we have a good shot at him?

He's been offered by ND, but I don't know how he would fit. He is currently a DE that is smaller than Harrison Smith. Granted, he would move to OLB, but 6'2"/210 is rail-skinny. Because of his slendor frame he is really quick off the ball and pursues well, but I don't know how well he'd be able to get off blocks as a 3-4 OLB even with a redshirt unless he puts on 40 lbs. I don't know how driven he is to stay in Texas, but I expect his finalists to include Texas A&M, Stanford, and Texas if they offer. JMO.

To answer your question, I think if he visits we have a shot, but I wouldn't consider it good.

Maybe, but IMO LT's are tougher to find than DL so if you have a top-10 OT, you try him there before you move him.. I think you see if he is a capable OT on either side before you move him. In the end, he could potentially play both much like Jarron Jones for us.

NDGuy - I had the same thought - Pocic, Bivin, McGovern and others become stronger 'gets' especially with UM filling up their oline slots. I see Elmer as a strong attraction - playing on a dominant oline has a 'pull' to it! GO IRISH!!
