    #56 Isaac Savaiinaea -- ILB -- Offered

-This is a tough one to see commit to Stanford. I really thought we had a shot at him.. IMO, we offered way too late.

Are you sure we even offered? Never saw any staff member report this. As far as CB's we are leading for I'd say none. The ones that have said were in top 2/3 are Chris Hawkins who I expect to be a Trojan. Rashad Kilaw is a super athlete that will most likely end up at CB. He's got PSU and ND in top two. Devin Butler will be here for two days and I think we are in top 5. Chucky Williams doesn't have an offer and has Clemson on top at the moment. He plays QB, but most likely ends up at S in college. An offer would put us in great position here. Tee Shepards old teammates CB's John Johnson and L.J. Moore plus Safety Hatari Boyd are strong possibilities, especially Moore who has us in top 3. Nadir Barnwell is a name to watch as is Tre' Bell whom I really like. Both are friends with Shumate and I think we are or amongst the leaders for Bell. Leon McQuay III is a possibility. Once he visits next month we'll know where we stand. I strongly feel we need 3 CB's in this class. We needed 2/3 this year and only signed 1.

I'm never sure Star, but I am 95% sure we offered just a few days before his commitment.

I'm not sure about the CB's, I've listed mine but I can't say we lead for any, but it is early in the process.

Do you think Tee leaving Notre Dame hurts us with Johnson, Moore, and Boyd? Seems as though it won't with Moore based on the following comments, “I love that there is that opportunity there,” Moore said. “I know they need cornerbacks really bad, and with him leaving, that blows that job opportunity wide open. That’s going to be a huge factor in my decision in a positive way.” --We'll have to see how the other two feel about it.

I'm not real familiar with Rashad Kilaw, profile?

I do think that Tre Bell could end up with us because of the Shumate connection and despite having no information, I really feel that Leon McQuay III with end up at Notre Dame.

Do you think Barnwell is going to stay in the Northeast, or is our shot a realistic one?

Star, I think three CB's is the minimum, needing at least 4 total DB's.

  • Sitting a week out from Junior Day and the word has been good surrounding some big name prospects.

Jaylon was just on campus, but will be back for the B&G Game; hopefully that's when we get his commitment.

I do like our chances with Latham given that he has been to Wisky already and I don't think he was wowed. I expect him to be wowed on Saturday.

Bivin hopefully will give us his commitment, although I'm not as confident about it as I was a few weeks ago.

Ezekiel Elliott could commit if blown away (which he should be).

As it's been said, Tre Bell is very close with Elijah Shumate and will be on campus Saturday; a CB commit would look really nice right now.

OT Dorian Johnson will be visiting on the 25th and could possibly commit too. If that's the case, we could (best case scenario of course) end up with Elmer, Latham, Bivin, and Johnson all committed by weekend's end. If that were to happen, I would still like to chase Pocic since Latham is equally capable of playing DL as well.

Elmer and Onwualu being on hand should really help our cause. I would really like to see some progress with Robert Foster and Ryan Green. We are trailing on both, but I'm hopeful that a big weekend could shuffle their orders.

To conclude, what's the story with Jordan Mastrogiovanni? There's interest, but no offer. I am not real familiar with the kid. What's the scouting report? Anyone?

Don't think Elliott commits next weekend. He recently set up another visit to tOSU so I doubt he's ready to decide. Ryan Green, issac Rochell, and Alex Anzalone are all visiting UF this weekend.

  • Haven't read site in a week ... this is great place to catch up.....ND guy great job...

My gut is that we seem to be going in reverse on these recruits...the recruits with ND as 1 or 2 is getting less every day and we appear to be going sideways...more commits to other schools more offers.......the week after the BG game is critical on how many recruits we have....looking at the offer list...which I don't see changing to much since practice starts shortly...we don't have many leaners to ND...while M is turning away recruits at least two positions..the word is that we have no cornerbacks(debatable) yet we can't land one for 2013...a position that will be wide open in 2013??....on and on it goes...

    BORGHI

  • Borghi as usual you are being too negative. Tre Bell is good bet at CB so far, look good with Hunter Biven and Dorian Johnson. Also look good with Latham. I think we have 7 to 9 commits by August. So in summary my leaners to ND are:

    Bivin
    Bell
    Elliott
    Latham (top 2 with Wisc)
    Jaylon Smith

I would say things are pointing upward.
