UPDATE: Irish might be headed back to Yankee Stadium

Notre Dame and Army agreed to meet at Yankee Stadium once again in 2013, according to a story this afternoon on the Times Herald-Record's website.
The two teams have played 50 times, with 23 of the games played at Yankee Stadium. The article did not say if the two programs had set a date, but both have open spots on their current 2013 schedules on Oct. 26 and Nov. 23

I may have pulled the trigger a little too fast on sharing this news. After the Herald-Record's original story yesterday afternoon Army AD Boo Corrigan said the two teams will play again but are probably a month away from officially announcing future plans. He was non-committal in his response to questions about exactly where the game would be played.
“My place (Michie Stadium), their place (South Bend), the Yankees place, wherever else. We are in the final throes," Corrigan told the Herald-Record.
Notre Dame did not immediately respond to questions about the possible future of the series.

This is a natural given that it will be the 100th anniversary of the famous 1913 meeting between Notre Dame and Army in which Gus Dorais and Knute Rockne put Notre Dame on the map out East and in the headlines with a prolific passing attack that had never before been seen in football, even though the pass was legalized years earlier.

I was at the last ND Army game at the stadium...it was great...cant wait for the next one!!!!!

I neglected to mention Steve Addazio's Temple team as the opener (Aug. 31) at home, which would make it six home games. It's on there now.

Hey Dan, haven't seen anyone mention it but what happened to Notre Dame POSSIBLY playing Stanford in China also in 2013?

Nothing is official, but this is how the schedule tentatively looks before the Army game is slotted.
Temple (Aug. 31), at Michigan (Sept. 7), at Purdue (Sept. 14), Michigan State (Sept. 21), Oklahoma (Sept. 28), Arizona State (Oct. 5 in Arlington, Texas), USC (Oct. 19), Navy (Nov. 2), at Pitt (Nov. 9), BYU (Nov. 16), at Stanford (Nov. 23). Air Force also has been listed, but I'd be surprised with 13 games.

I posted this at the top of the story, but in case it goes unnoticed here's an update after Boo Corrigan, current Army athletic director and former Notre Dame athletic dept. member, addressed the future of the series:
