Some people won't, but I would. Maybe someone will step up and surprise, but judging only by those players we've actually had the opportunity to evaluate in game situations, the defensive end rotation is all of KLM and Stephon Tuitt at this point.
With Lynch, the Irish had three proven (or at least promising) options at defensive end. And most coaches will tell you they'd really like to go four-deep (two per end spot) in game situations.
Also, one of the great things about Tuitt was his versatility as a DE/DL. Is he going to be able to be as dynamic without Lynch? This creates a lot of questions at a position where those questions didn't really previously exist. So yeah, I think it's a big deal. But we'll see what happens come Saturdays this fall.

I hate to sound petty, but do not give Lynch any breaks or do him any favors on allowing him to transfer anywhere he chooses. He played with heart last year and I believe gave a solid effort, but his transfer still feels selfish.
He was all about the drama to include his silly penalties at times. I think Mr. Tuitt is clearly a better fit at ND and Tuitt enjoyed the competition with Lynch. Maybe Aaron did not enjoy it so much. I hate to lose him, but it is what it is and I feel for Coach Kelly and his staff.

A couple prominent former Lynch teammates told me last week they wouldn't be surprised if Lynch left and that he was coddled by the coaching staff since the moment he arrived. It sure sounds as if the coaches tried to do everything they could to keep Lynch around. The players, however, are not going to miss him.

to be honest, I don't wish him the best in his college football future. Health, yes, success, I couldn't give a sh#t. What nonsense wishing him the best. Just like Greenberry, Sheppard, Darby, etc... you turn your back on my team (and an opportunity the rest of us can only dream of), then I don't wish you any football luck. Call me petty, but call me honest
