Not necessarily defending Rees, he is still wrong, but a bit fishy that he was the only one pursued by officers out of 5 people who fled. Out of those 5 they were most likely other football players as well. Could just be Carlo being a dumb jock who thinks he is too big of a deal to be arrested but him resisting could have something to do with cops being unjust as well.

Yeah I mean if it true that he is the only one that continued to flee and resist then he is completely in the wrong there but going off of what Dan said here it sounds like they basically picked him out of the fleeing pack to pursue, and my guess is that the pack included other underaged football players. I don't even like Rees, but that sounds fishy if true.

Being only 4 years removed from college myself I think this whole thing is very comedic and at the end of the day Tommy and Carlo will have a tighter bond because that is what teammates do, stick up for each other. These parties go on every night on most campuses and sometimes get out of control. Everything will be all right for ND in the end.

What seems problematic to me based on this account of events, is how was there probable cause to arrest Rees for minor in consumption and public intoxication based solely on him being at a party, jumping over a fence, and running. How could the officers know Rees was underage without personally knowing him or looking at his ID. And how could they know he was intoxicated without Rees being breathalyzed or showing overt signs of being intoxicated.
Of course, not all the facts are in, but just a few things to consider that struck me.

What's fishy about it? You have to pick someone to chase right? You yourself said your guess would be there were other football players in the group that ran which is a fair assumption.
It's also very likely that a drunken Tommy Rees is even slower and less coordinated than a sober one which if I had to guess would have made him the last one over the fence + slow = the one to catch.
The kid was a .11. He may be the greatest kid in the world but he put himself in this spot and this is how it played out. This is on him.

First of all I said he was wrong, I'm not changing that part, but that doesn't mean that the police may be in the wrong a bit as well. Its fishy that out of a pack of 6 people, only 1 person was pursued and that just happened to be Rees. In my experience only going after 1 of 6 is a target. By the way, 0.11 is not that bad, its definitely past driving ability which is .08 but its not like he was falling over drunk.... Just saying only pursuing one person is fishy. He may have been the first one they got to but why not continue chasing others? I would bet they had more than enough officers to pursue the others. I fail to see how this is not weird...
