  • First of all congrats to CW. Second applying and getting accepted at either Texas or Florida consists of a self addressed envelope so that either school knows whose coming. Cuz grades, curriculum and expectations well just don't exist for a student and football, player or "helper".

He said that getting to be around his kid was makes the move "almost a dream." Please at least be fair if you're going to try to quote him.

A hater has no interest in being fair, I just don't get it. I get the fact of not liking the end result of his on the field experience at ND, but..................whatever. It's not going to change. None of us, me included, have a friggin CLUE about the motivations of this man yet the trashing continues

  • Why is so much attention given to this turd, Charlie Weis?? Shouldn't Notre Dame fans be jumping for joy that he might bring lots of notches in the Loss column for Florida like he did for Notre Dame. I, for one, am not worried. And frankly, I am tired of reading about Charlie fricken Weis on this message board.

  • Ok ill rephrase that. I am tired of reading thread titles with Charlie Wies listed in them. Is that good enough for you? Give me more of BK and less of that bum. His time has come and gone, thank you god!! And now we have an upper echelon coach in Brian Kelly. Lets focus on the future.

    i like his reason.

considering his family life with his daughter and his son, i think he is making a great decision.

I don't know about you but I certainly did not want my dad hanging around when I was in college. Charlie it trying to ensure that his son succeeds. That is it. If you ask me, it is time to cut the apron strings and let CJ be a man. We tend to coddle our kids way TOO long in this country which is probably why many of them struggle to compete in this economy.

you cannot pretend to know CWs' family life.

its clearly more different than yours or mine.

to pass judgement on a person for simply the reason of being near his kid is poor form.

put yourself in his shoes with a delayed daughter and a son. clearly you cant.

OK, but I'm tired of people responding to threads by saying they're tired of reading the thread that they've obviously gone out of their way to read. Obviously, we rather read about Kelly than Weis or Harbaugh or any other team's coach. Have you seen Kelly make headlines since the Sun Bowl? Neither have I. Meanwhile, coaching moves at schools which are either rivals on the field or rivals in recruiting are newsworthy and people are going to talk about it. You like to talk about Boise St. Fine. Has nothing to with ND, but it doesn't bother me when you do. I just ignore it. When other people have an interest in marginally related ND material that doesn't interest you, maybe you can show them the same courtesy.

  • It just seems to me Charlie is taking a step down.
I can see going from ND HC to NFL OC. Makes sense. This ...

but other than that, I don't see Charlie dealing well with college kids, and his demeanor will just tear things up eventually. His ego is so big that he will not get along with a college HC for long. I just don't see it.

It is almost like a terrorist sleeper cell in the Florida organization.

It will be OK for a year or two, and then Charlie moves on or lays a turd.

  • Interesting to read the comments from folks with solid, if differing points of view. I can appreciate Charlie wanting his son to get the leg up if he sees coaching as a goal. Most of us would try and help a son if we could. I still see a lot of father/son businesses out in the world. getting into Fl on short notice may not be a hard thing to do if UF has a deal similar to many where they allow children of faculty to attend if qualified. seems to me charlie is doing it for family all the way and going to a situation he thinks will be stable for at least 4 years or longer. KC has been surprisingly good this year but who knows the future in the NFL when the talent is one each QB and not a ton more. He is an East coast guy and family. Moving to Fl is Jersey South. Probably cut any short term shot at another NFL position out of the picture for a half dozen years. The fact that it is FL hurts because of recruiting misses. I hope that thy ask charlie to recruit defensive linemen, then we'd have a leg up.Good luck to him unless we meet in a game. He came to ND when others wouldn't. he worked hard and was well paid but didn't succeed. I'm worried about BKs success now and hope all the talk about charlie dries up as quick as the commentary on Haywood.

You do not know anything about me or my kids. So, don't act like you do. For the record, I have a delayed son. Shame on you.
To my knowledge, Charlie Jr. is not delayed. If Charlie Sr wants to help him that is fine. But, this really seems more like nepotism than career guidance and help.
