The Alabama Crimson Tide may be ranked one slot below the No. 1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish entering the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, but that hasn't stopped fans from talking ...
"Win or lose, I'd rather graduate than not."
This is not the first time that Bama and ND have gone after each other with humor. Back in 1977, The Tide fanbase were in an uproar that the AP and UPI picked ND #1 and Bama #2 in the final polls. #4 ND destroyed #1 Texas in the Cotton bowl (38-10). Meanwhile, #3 Bama destroyed #8 OSU(35-6) in the Sugar. ND leap frogged over Bama for the National Championship and the Bama faithful were upset. An Alabama radio station produced a catchy song called "The Little Blue Nun" about the devine power ND used to win the title. A local Indiana radio station replied with a song called "The Little Blue Nun Replies". The Bama song mentions that even Woody Hayes believed that The Tide was #1. The ND reply went something like this..."Why they tell us even Woody says The Tide is in first place and you know to question Woody gets a fist right in your face". The Bama song went on to complain that the Pope and Heaven above influenced the pollsters. The ND song replied ..." We admit we have Heavens, a devine coach we call Dan, and when it comes to miracles Montana is our man". Both songs were sold on vinyl for charity years ago. It was hilarious. Great sense of humor coming from both sides. I'm glad to see that it is still alive and well today.
