niversity of Notre Dame defensive end Aaron Lynch has left the Fighting Irish football team and will transfer to another school at the end of the spring semester, the University announced today.
“Aaron recently approached me about his desire to leave Notre Dame and return to Florida,” Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said. “I’ve always known and appreciated the affinity Aaron has for his home in Florida. However, the stark reality is you can’t make it at Notre Dame if your head and heart are not here. I am proud of the effort Aaron made in the classroom and on the field at Notre Dame. I wish him all the best in the future.”
Lynch played in 12 games for the Irish as a freshman in 2011, starting six contests. He recorded 33 tackles, seven tackles for loss and five and a half sacks.
“I want to thank Coach Kelly for giving me this great opportunity to attend Notre Dame and be part of the Fighting Irish football family,” Lynch said. “This was one of the toughest decisions I have had to make, but I want to go back home to Florida. I’m grateful to Coach Kelly for understanding and allowing me to return home.”

I don't want to sound a false alarm here but there seems to be something amiss under the Golden Dome.
Our most needed recruits from the last class bailed at the last minute. We just lost our best recruit from the previous class and now we hear that Ishaq Williams is uncertain as well. At the moment our punt returner is the same guy who averaged 11" per return last year and our 35 yard, line drive rugby punter is the second strongest player on the team.
All of the sudden the specter of Tommy Rees again being the best QB on the team does not seem to be the worst of our problems.
Ordinarily, if someone is homesick, or in academic trouble at ND...and both are very understandable....
--- the time to make a decision to leave is at the semester break....simply the most logical splitting point...so spring semester break makes sense to me...
However, I believe thi situation is something different....
--- leaving midway in Spring practice (my assumption, so pardon me) doesn't make any sense, and doesn't fit the "I'm homesick for Momma" (who lives in Cleveland, not Florida) or whatever.
I wouldn't want to say Kelly is "snakebit", but it is simply one thing after another.....
--- coaches leaving, our best recruits defecting, the QB congtroversy/competition,, now this....
We simply couldn't afford this loss.

Has anybody else heard the rumor that Lynch missed his girl friend in Florida and that's why he is leaving?
