April 20th. Here's hoping for good weather. My pop used to take me to the spring game when it was called the "Old Timers " game, featuring the current squad against former Irish players. That was back in the late 50s and early 60s. Got lot of great autographs from Irish legends back then. Since that time period, I have missed only a couple of Spring games. Sat thru some great warm weather and some ridiculous rain and snow that was blowing sideways. I have been snubbed by Tom Lemming, embraced cheerfully by Gerry Faust, and completely ignored by Joe Montana. One of my biggest thrills was meeting the late great Hank Stram while we were all walking back to the parking lot after the game. Don't expect fireworks during the game. Going to the game beats doing chores around the house and it's a great day (rain or shine) to spend walking around on one of the most beautiful places on Planet Earth.
Yes, I remember the Old Timers Game. You and I must be about the same age.
I'll be 60 very soon.
65 this May.
Ween,Think It will rain for the Spring Game? Heh Heh.
The older I get the less inclined I am to attend the Spring Game if the weather is too bad. I haven't missed a regular season home game in 14 years so the bad weather rule does not apply. The Cuse game was bone chilling cold and tons of snow. The campus was dark, cloudy, desolate, not many fans walking around. The game was even worse.
