I wasn't very surprised that Greenberry passed on us....(excuse the pun)...
--- although the last minute switch was somewhat of a shock given Houston's coaching change.
#1 We simply don't match up with Houston's pass crazy offense...not even close.
#2 We simply don't match up with Houston's national ranking in the Top 25...
Sure, Houston's schedule truly sucks, it sucks big time, it is gross to an extreme, but they did beat PSU in their bowl game.
Man, come on. Can't match Houston.... Are you kidding? We are ND. Was Houston on national TV other than Gameday... And didn't they lose that game? I don't remember...why...because we are talking about Houston! I agree, they pass it a ton. When we played teams of Houston's opponent's defensive caliber, we put up big numbers too. So they beat PSU.....PSU beat themselves that game, similar to how ND lost a few games.
If ND had the same schedule as Houston, it would have been NC all the way.
Unfortunately, Greenberry agrees with me.
we should never lose out to Houston especially when they don't even have keenum any more
That is a real problem. If we were a top 10 team right now we'd be raking in monster recruiting classes. I'm sure Kelly realizes it will be difficult to get the talent he wants when we cannot crack the top 25. I guess it's a chicken and egg thing.
Win on the field and all this never happens. We would have a top 5 class. It will happen , be patient...
ND Family...Go Irish !!!!
Are you kidding? All he gets from Houston is hot weather and the chance to be a "big fish in a little pond". Plus what ever else he was "offered".
For some kids, it may be the case that when they sit down and think about how much work they are going to have to do to keep up with their studies and graduate from Notre Dame, they may decide that's not exactly what they're looking for. It may be short-sighted, but you're talking about 18 year olds whose main focus at that point is football. You'd like to think a parent would influence their son in the proper way, but that may not always happen.
But, yes, you'd like to think the choice between Houston and Notre Dame would not be that difficult.
Its a Big pond with lots of girls. What he doesn't realize is that half the student body goes home at night to their parents. He took the easy way out , plain and simple.
POTW - Last year and 2/20/11
Sorry to say but ND has not been a great football team since Lou Holtz left. We had a few years here or there where we played in a BCS game (and got our butts kicked because we did not belong there) but in general it has been tough to watch (if you are a die hard fan like most on this board). One way I can see ND making it back to a BCS game on a regular bases would be to join the Big East in football. I know a lot of people disagree with this but this is who we are right now. We need to start playing in and winning some big games and then the recrits will start coming again (as they did before). Then if the Big East is below us, join another conference or go back to being a independant. After almost 2 decades of this, I for one have seen enough. BTW...it breaks my heart to say this but it is what it is.
Man...you are a legend in your own mind aren't you.....now I remember why I don't come to this board!
