Check out Chris Brown's 100 meter performance of a couple of days ago.
We are putting together a team with some serious speed. Here are current guys and recruits and their 100 Meter times:
Chris Brown 10.51
George Atkinson III 10.59
Josh Atkinson 10.61
Bennett Jackson 10.72
Davonte Neal 10.80
Agreed...these guys have to see the field....
--- 1 or 2 guys coming also have some speed.
Wow Chris Brown with that kind of speed is so under the radar. I saw today Marvin Bracy ran a 4.31 in the 100 to become the fastest player in college football. When was the last time we had this kind of speed if ever. I think it shows this year on how we have an explosive cast of skilled players.
The fastest football player ND has ever had was Bill Hurd who was a finalist in the 100 Meter in the 1968 Olympic Trials. But he was only a part-time player. Apart from Bill, I don't believe we've ever had anyone on the football team who has run under 10.50 for 100 meters. Rocket certainly had that potential, but his outdoor track career at Notre Dame wasn't very extensive.
So this group may represent the fastest collection of guys we've ever had.
This group has to translate onto the field...
--- otherwise we will have a part-time track team.
In particular, at corner where we haven't had much speed over the years.
--- preferably at 4.5 in the 40 or below (basically similar to the NFL Combine)
