If you listen to the SEC chatter and Bama BS...
--- Jones is the 'greatest".
From my perspective, the match up between Nix and Jones could easily prove the deciding one in this game.
Jones bio is one of diversification...which apparently is highly revered in the SEC...
--- but I don't really see him as a natural center., and doubt seriously if in the NFL he will play anywhere else than guard.
Having watched him 4 times this year....
--- he shows good diagonal blocking ability with his guards against a 4-3 alignment...
--- but he isn't that good against a 3-4 with the nose directly over him...going 1 on 1.
Gary Danielson gave him very, very high praise in the final Bama TD pass...against the Georgia nose....
--- but from my perspective he had a lot of trouble handling that rush in a 1 on 1 block...
We need to bring "pressure"...and plenty of it from the front...straight through Jones...
--- because other than Motta our match up in the secondary is at a disadvantage.
Nix should hold his own, and perhaps surprise a few analysts along the way.
Georgia defense is a 3-4 defense. Bama rushed for 350 yds against Georgia. Plus,,, we run a 3-4 defense which is the #1 rushing defense. Our offensive line will not be surprised by the Notre Dame defensive line.

Georgia isn't ND as clearly evidenced by their inability to tackle. You won't be running like that against us
Never said we would. You are Talented and big up front. Which is why your defense is so good in the redzone. But you are also slow, which is why multiple teams have rushed for over 100yds against the irish defense mostly between the 20's. I think we can be successful rushing the football. I am not insulting your defense, I think it will be one of the best we have faced all year. In the redzone the best.
The question is,,, can the irish O be successful against the tide's D.
You must be kidding yourself calling ND front 7 "slow." not that there's anything fast about the bama run game. You're in for a surprise big boy. I'll be looking forward to teaching you a lesson about a few athletes on our team
Our run game will be better than anything you have seen... And your over the top safties will find that they need to come up and help out on the run game, leaving your corners un-protected. Enough about our offense or your defense...
How is the ND offense going to move the ball on the Bama D? This is the #76 ranked offense against the #1 ranked defense.... Please explain?
Those stats were made with a freshman QB who has changed considerably his last 5 games than the first 6. Our OLine also didn't sync up until 4 or 5 games in. Looking at recent games, its just been red zone offense that has been the problem. And you better believe that half of the offenses practice time will be spent down there.
Also, on the other side of the ball, Tuitt, a DLineman, ran a fumble 77 yards for a TD against Navy, outrunning RBs and their running QB int he process. If that's slow then I am truly frightened of any DLineman faster weighing over 300 lbs. The reason our redzone defense is so good is we don't need those safeties to be over the top and the LBs all focus on the run. Almost no team has managed to attack our red zone D. It has nothing to do with slowness.
Regarding Bama O vs ND D, Bama's rushing offense is ranked #20, and Oklahoma's #22, who only put up a grand total of 15 yards on ND on the ground. Be sure that this is The best defense Bama has faced all year. #1 scoring D, #6 total D (only Fl in SEC which Bama didn't play is ranked higher), #4 rushing D (behind Bama, Stanford and BYU, the latter 2 which ND beat). Bama's offense is only ranked #40. You appear a little over confident regarding this aspect of the game.
As for ND O v Bama D, it was noted our offense is only improving. It's ranked #27 in rushing, and total offense is up to #49 (quite a bit higher than the 76 you threw out there). Bama had issues with dual threat Manziel and Golson will cause you similar problems. He plays best away from home against tough opponents.
But we can talk numbers till we're blue in the face; that's why they play these on the field. My question is why do you feel the need to troll ND boards to prove your case? Worried?
Oklahoma's rushing offense needs to be graded on a curve,,, they play in the big 12,, there are about 4 other teams in that conference that have highly ranked rushing offenses. The big 12 really does not believe in defense. Sorry about the #76 ranking,,,, that is a #74 scoring offense ranking...
Just trying to talk some football with the other side... Don't be so uptight....
Oh and, Johnny Football is the real deal... If Golson has near the talent of this kid,,, ND will be in the game until the end and may well pull it out.
what about a and m, what conference were they in last year ?
If Manziel had played for Texas A&M last year,, A&M would have been playing LSU in the BCS National Title game instead of Bama, because they would have walked through the big 12.. If you think Golson plays on the same level as Manziel,, OK! And if what you think turns out to be true, then you are right, the bama D will have a long night! But,,, if Golson is as good as Manziel, why has ND only averaged 26 points a game?
OK Bama, we can take a discussion. But have the balls to be the first poster I've seen this year to come back and admit ND is a better team after you lose. I will save this topic and do the same should ND lose. Fair enough?
No problem! I enjoy the chatter. If ND wins, it won't be the first time that I have had to face the music. Everyone does from time to time. I am just a fan that loves college football. It is the best sport going, pro or college.
Now that's something we can agree on
Bama did not play an overwhelming difficult schedule this year...
--- playing LSU (very close game that Miles lost through his typical stupidity), A&M (Bama loss), and Georgia (close win).
Johnny Football is not the best SEC quarterback this year...
--- but he did have a great game against Bama...no doubt about it.
The key to this game is very simple...
--- If McCarron has a truly hot hand we are in deep, deep trouble.
Remember, McCarron doesn't throw INTs like some of the 2nd rate QBs we have faced.
If he is hot, and has time to throw, he will force our safeties into deep coverage...
--- we simply don't have the talent in the secondary to match up other than Motta.
This game isn't about Notre Dame's offense...hasn't been all year.
Notre Dame will need at least 21 points to win. I believe Bama will score 20-24 points.
