Notre Dame WR Deion Walker transfers to UMass
Former Notre Dame receiver Deion Walker gets a re-start on his college career, announcing that he will play next season at Massachusetts.
Walker played in only seven games from 2009-2011 for the Fighting Irish. He redshirted as a true freshman in 2008. UMass moves from FCS to FBS this season and Walker will be immediately eligible to play in this, his fifth season.
“We are excited about having Deion join us for the upcoming season,” UMass coach Charley Molnar told the Chicago Tribune. “Having worked with Deion at Notre Dame, he is a terrific person and will make the most of this opportunity.”
Brian Kelly wants a Jumbotron and field turf.........NOW!
Here's something that longtime Notre Dame fans who appreciate the storied tradition of the school's football program and Notre Dame Stadium aren't going to like very much. Head coach Brian Kelly got to talking about the atmosphere in South Bend with fans waving towels in the air that made the place seem more like a modern football stadium than the library it's felt like at times.
"We want a big Jumbotron," Kelly told the Chicago Tribune. "We think that's going to add to the atmosphere." As for the field turf, it's something Kelly has brought up before, and he hasn't changed his mind.
Coach Kelly has been campaigning for a new field turf at Notre Dame Stadium. Well, here's the perfect answer. It's called Desso GrassMaster and this surface combines "tradition with technology."
"Frankly, I can't believe the University of Notre Dame has yet to have this installed." Green Bay Packer fans, Philadelphia Eagle fans, Denver Bronco fans -- have all been watching their teams play on this surface for the past few years.
In fact, the Denver Broncos field was named the "BEST PROFESSIONAL SPORTS FIELD IN AMERICA."
So.........what seems to be the problem? Kelly has no influence? Who's against Coach Kelly on these two very important items? What seems to be the problem? It can't be money. Just what is it that's holding Notre Dame back?
