rish Interested In 2014 QB
Notre Dame has its quarterback in the Class of 2013 in Malik Zaire, but recruiting never stops and the Irish are already looking at signal-callers in the 2014 class.
One prospect on the Irish’s radar is Tampa quarterback Chase Litton.
“One of my coaches was talking to me about how he talked to them and they seem interested in should be coming down,” said Litton, a 6-foot-5, 195-pounder from Wharton High School.
“He said he was showing him my tape and they definitely seem interested.”
Would Litton be interested in the Irish?
“Oh, Notre Dame? Of course,” he said emphatically.
What interests him about Notre Dame?
“Everything,” he said. “They’re prestigious, the players they put out, everything about them, the tradition. Notre Dame is a great Division I team and academics are perfect, good coaches. Notre Dame just seems like a good all-around team.”
Litton already has an early offer from LSU and could be getting more soon.
“I have a meeting May 1st with the Miami coach and then UCF and Arkansas,” he said.
Litton believes his physical tools have allowed him to attract such early attention.
“My frame is a good size and my arm strength is good,” he said. “This past year wasn’t a struggle, but I could have had a better year. Ever since then, I’ve been working on my mechanics and footwork and my release and everything and it’s all clicked.”
Litton, who threw for more than 2,000 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, is already looking forward to his junior year.
“I can’t wait,” he said. “I just want to go out and double the stats of what they were last year.”
He’s already started hitting the road and mapping out future trips.
“I’ve visited Miami,” he said. “I’m going to be visiting LSU this summer. I’m going to try to go out and see Stanford in the summer too.”
Litton would “definitely” like to visit South Bend at some point.
Litton plays on the same high school squad as top 2013 cornerback prospect Vernon Hargreaves and said he and Hargreaves have talked about Notre Dame “here and there.” Litton would like to be teammates with Hargreaves in college, but it won’t be a deciding factor.
“He’s like my brother,” Litton said. “We hang out every second of every day and talk about football.”
He has an idea of what he’s looking for in a school.
“A place I call my family, coaches I can sit down and have great conversations about anything, academics and playing time,” he said. “All of those factors will come into play when I pick a college.”
I think ND looks good for 2012. What do you think?
Here is my prediction. I actually like Rees at QB and he will much better now that he is experienced. You can mix in a running qb as well to throw teams off. Defense will be improved they have another year in the system. Losing floyd hurts , but you have some other good players to pick up the slack.
Navy Midshipmen They lose tons of starters so ND will easily win this game.
Purdue Boilermakers Purdue rerurns a lot starters, but are not that talented and this is a home game for ND.. Adbantage ND
at Michigan State Spartans - Very well coached team, but they lose their QB who was a top flight player for them. Plus they lose all their wr and te and their main rb was drafted. They will not be ale to score. Advantage ND because they have no good replacement for cousins.
Thee lose all wr's, their top rb and te and Center. ND can focus on stopping Darnell Robinson and their ground game. DR is always a factor so this is tough call. Game is in ND, but still a pick em.
Open Date ---
Soldier Field, Chicago, IL 7:30 p.m. ET/ NBC
Program is in turmoil. QB? Basically a home game for ND. Advantage ND
Stanford Cardinal - they lose Luck and all the best players on the OL. They have no defense and now they will have an average offense. Plus another home game. Advantage ND.
BYU Cougars BYU is always tough to predict. They beat good teams and lose to bad teams. Home game so advantage ND.
at Oklahoma Sooners They return almost everyone plus a very good QB. At Okla. ND has the talent to compete so slight advantage to Okla.
Pittsburgh Panthers Home game and they are an average tea,m. Advantage ND.
at Boston College Eagles ND is too talented to lose to BC. away game. Could be close, but slight advantage to ND
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Home game and they lose of talent. Their whole OL is gone and they will not be able to score. And they are not a great Defensive team. Home game. Advantage ND.
at USC Trojans Rivalry game. USc is very talented, but have very little depth at many positions. We only have one dt who has played much and no back up linebackers. Also, only one rb has played much and he is injury prone. Very low on wr's as well. Bottom line, if usc does not have injuries they will win. If they do have have injuries to those positions, they will lose as the other backups have no experience. I look for a close game either way as ND is coming off a loss. We always have a lot of injuries so slight advantage ND because of the depth problems. No other sc fan will say this, but our depth is extremely weak at a number of positions.
So I see ND going about 11-2 with an upst win at maybe USC and and maybe a loss to to Michigan or a fluke game somewhere else like BYU or BC.
