Alex Karras passed away today at the age of 77. Alex played in the NFL for 12 years and was All pro 3 times. He was an actor, professional wrestler,and worked the MNF booth with Gifford and Cossell for 3 years. He was suspended with Paul Hornung for one year for gambling on NFL games. Two notable Alex Karras moments.... In 1974, while working the MNF booth, Alex refered to Oakland Raider Otis Sistrunk as attending the University Of Mars and of course, Alex punched the horse and knocked him out in the movie "Blazing Saddles". Alex was also born and raised in my hometown of Gary, Indiana. He still has lots of family in "The Region". Thanks for the memories Alex. RIP.
