How did my Blue & Gold Rockne's Roundtable get polluted with politics? Let's stick to things upon which we can all agree:
- Notre Dame needs to score more points.
- Our secondary really needs to be on the ball.
- Tuitt needs to introduce young Morris to the turf in Soldier Field ... early and often.
- Manti T'eo should win the Heisman. I know, I know. It's too early, but I don't care.
Besides, the lion's share of elected politicians are purchased by gigantic corporate interests and work almost exclusively for them, and very rarely for us. Let's see ... which wealthy corporatist do I want to occupy the Oval Office?
Hmmm ... Anyone have a coin?

So those complaining about the thread being political had no idea it was a political thread based on the subject line? give us a break......if you don't like the thread don't open it and sure as hell don't give your opinion on the validity of it. this is a football board for sure but it's also a community. i'd say a presidential election is an important, relevant, and interesting topic amongst nd fans.

Not how it works, here. There are probably 47,382 message boards out there devoted to politics. I don't go to any of them to discuss Notre Dame football. There are also 46,257 other topics which are "important, relevant and interesting" topics amongst ND fans, but that doesn't mean they should be discussed here. You're right, this is a "community" but it's a community linked together by love of Notre Dame football, other Notre Dame sports and Notre Dame, itself. For quite a few years, the board, as orchestrated by Lou, Jason and John Haynsworth, when he worked here, have tried to maintain a vibe of civil discussion and difference of opinion on the topics I just mentioned. There was an off-topic board created for all other talking points. That philosophy has served the board well. It's not a question of what's important in life. There are a half-million things more important than Notre Dame football (except none will be this Saturday night), but they can be discussed elsewhere. Here, we like to open any thread with the understanding that it will be centered on Notre Dame, or an occasional humorous story, or a deserving request for prayers for loved ones. That's been a successful formula here. No disrespect to anyone who wants to discuss all other matters of importance, but there is a place on this website for all such topics, let alone a zillion other websites across the internet.
